Real inspirations from real life
All I wanted was to be an author.
When I got sick years ago, I had the good fortune of just finishing my first novel. I loved it, so as my life went more and more off the rails with no idea what I was sick with, I kept writing. The sicker I got, the more I wrote. As we found things to give me my life back, one inch at a time, I wrote. When we lost our home, I wrote. When we lived in a shelter, I wrote. When we moved to a by the week place, I wrote. Growing up different, the books I read saved me, and I wanted to pay that forward to more people. So I wrote.
Being offline and buried in manuscripts, I missed that an author who had saved so many people like me in the 00's had gone full TERF.
My work was about people coming together, looking at the world in a different way, poking holes in the ways things were and are. I wrote LGBTQIA+ stories, BDSM stories that weren’t abusive, stories of villains trying to become heroes, and thieves finding families.
All I wanted to do was write.
The world happened.
So now I use my work as a beacon of hope, a template for how we could be, and a fandom to bring us all together.
